Bethany Professors Making Strides in Education
Bethany Adjunct Professor Receives Department of Education Grant
Jennifer Madigan, Adjunct Professor for the Teacher Education Program,
recently received a $14,000 grant to conduct her doctoral research
from the Department of Education/Office of Special Education. This
prestigious grant is awarded yearly to twelve doctoral students
nationwide.
The title of her project is "The Latina Voice in Special Education;
Classroom Behaviors, School Attitudes, and Gender Identity of Latina
Students in Single Gender Special Education Classrooms in California."
Jennifer will be hiring three 2001 Bethany graduates to serve as
research assistants: Mariano Dowgaluk, Michelle Hansen, and Dina
Gutierrez.
Michael Stach Earns Ph.D. in Human Services
Professor Michael Stach successfully defended his doctoral dissertation
on May 11, 2001, fulfilling all requirements for his Ph.D. in Human
Services from Walden University. His dissertation topic, Missionary
Personnel Selection, was based upon his work with Wycliffe Bible
Translators.
Mike and his wife Joyce are alumni of Bethany College and have
worked with Wycliffe since 1982. Part of this tenure was spent in
West Africa along the Ivory Coast. In 1989 Mike came to Bethany
to teach social science with an emphasis on linguistics and culture.
Through his unique teaching style, Professor Stach has played a
key role in fusing missiology and the social sciences.
Bethany College is one of 20 endorsed colleges of the Assemblies
of God.
