Alliance Awards

College Administrators and Educators Honored for Distinguished Service

The Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education believes that a life and career dedicated to Christian Higher Education through thought, leadership, and scholarship is a definite ministry and calling in the body of Christ. As a result, the Commission has established four distinct awards that recognize the contributions of administrators and faculty to Assemblies of God higher education.

Two awards recognize distinguished service: the Distinguished Administrator Award (Omicron Alpha) and the Distinguished Educator Award (Delta Alpha). These awards have been established for the purpose of recognizing those who have distinguished themselves in the Fellowship by consistent excellence in scholarship and service in administration and teaching. It also recognizes that they have made an outstanding contribution and lifetime commitment to postsecondary education in the Assemblies of God. National recognition at General Council is given to the recipients of the Distinguished Administrator Award and the Distinguished Educator Award. [Previous Distinguish Award Recipients]

The Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education presented its Distinguished Administrator and Distinguished Educator Awards during its biennial luncheon on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Patrick Gallagher (Zion Bible College) received the Distinguished Administrator Award. Those who received the Distinguished Educator Award included Dr. Deborah Gill (Assemblies of God Theological Seminary), Dr. Margo Lloyd (North Central University), Dr. Robert Turnbull (Evangel University), and Dr. John Wyckoff (Southwestern University).

DR. PATRICK GALLAGHER serves as Academic Dean and Senior Vice President of Zion Bible College. Having begun work in the school’s academic offices in 1987, Gallagher guided Zion Bible College through a transition that transformed it from a three-year institute to a school offering a four-year baccalaureate degree program.

DR. DEBORAH GILL has served as a faculty member of Central Bible College (1976-1980), North Central University (1983-1997), and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (2006-present). In addition to her duties as Professor of Biblical Studies and Exposition at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Gill also serves as the designer and facilitator of the seminary’s Coaching Cohort at AGTS.

DR. MARGO LLOYD has served as a faculty member of North Central University since 1988 as a professor in the Education Department. Prior to her time at North Central, she served as an educator in the public school system of St. Paul, Minnesota.

DR. ROBERT TURNBULL has served as a faculty member at Evangel University from 1973 to the present. In addition to serving as Professor of French, Turnbull also directs the Summer Overseas Study trips to France and Belgium.

DR. JOHN WYCKOFF has served as a faculty member of Southwestern Assemblies of God University in the Department of Bible and Theology from 1976 to the present. Prior to serving in the Department of Bible and Theology, Wyckoff utilized his science background to serve as an instructor in the school’s Chemistry and Mathematics Department (1966-1968).

Faithful Service Awards

Two other awards recognizing faithful service have been established: Administrator Award (Omicron Pi) and the Educator Award (Delta Sigma). These awards give special recognition to administrators and professors who have rendered outstanding service to the Assemblies of God Fellowship as reflected by their commitment and years of service at AG academic institutions.

The awards are presented by a college official or a representative from the Christian Higher Education Department during a chapel service or at another appropriate gathering.
