Originally starting in 2008, the Student Leaders’ Conference began with the purpose of cultivateing and growing the student leaders of the Assemblies of God endorsed colleges. Leaders meet in Springfield for a weekend to be equipped, empowered, and encouraged. The event resembles the AG Faculty Conference in that we provide interactive sessions, complimentary meals and time for catching up with others. However, our sessions focus on challenges that students are currently facing, including sociological and administrative hurdles.
Student leaders from across our endorsed schools came to Springfield, Mo. to attend the 2015 Student Leadership Conference on Nov. 12-14. Students ranged from ASB Presidents, RA/Organization Leaders, and Missions/Outreach Leaders. Speakers include: David Vazquez, who oversees public affairs and external relations for Vanguard University and has served as a Senate Fellow and policy advisor for a California State Senator, as the legislative manager for the Association of California Cities - Orange County, and as a staff assistant for the United States House Committee on Ways and Means and his wife Alli Joy Vazquez, who is a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God. Chris Railey, Sr. Director of Leadership and Church Development for the Assemblies of God, Johan Mostert, Professor of Community Psychology at AGTS, and Dr. George O. Wood, Chief Executive Officer of the Assemblies of God also had the chance to speak into the lives of the students. Along with the speaker sessions, students took a tour of the NLRC and networked in Idenity Groups as well as experienced Southern Missouri delicacies such as Andy's Frozen Custard and Dixie Stampede.
