Evangel University’s chapter of Alpha Chi named a Star Chapter

EUalphachiThe Evangel University chapter of the national college honor society, Alpha Chi, was recently recognized as one of a select few to be named a Star Chapter, based on scholarly activity and community service.

The Star Chapter recognition is only given to the top 15 percent of the more than 300 chapters throughout the nation.

Alpha Chi actively promotes academic excellence, undergraduate and graduate research, campus academic dialogue and civic engagement. Membership is open to the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors and graduate students, representing all academic disciplines.

“Alpha Chi National Honor Society treats sponsors and students with great dignity, professionalism and respect,” said Dr. Laynah Rogers, sponsor of Evangel’s chapter.

“I enjoy being advisor to interdisciplinary students at Evangel,” said Rogers, who serves as the director of the University’s academic support center. “They make the best tutors, too!”

A history of honors

Founded in 2000, Evangel’s chapter of Alpha Chi is called Missouri Rho. This is the thirteenth time Evangel’s chapter has received Star Chapter recognition.

In 2009, the Evangel chapter received the President’s Cup Trophy for best campus chapter nationally. At the time, it was the youngest chapter to ever receive the award.

The next membership induction, cord ceremony and officer induction will be on March 25.
