Global University Team Member Serves as Protestant Minister on Cruise Ship

GUcuiseGlobal University Graduate School of Theology faculty member Dr. Mary Logan spent the recent Christmas holiday as the guest Protestant minister on board the Holland America Cruise Line. The Caribbean cruise, held on December 21-28, 2013, included a tour of Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay.

Dr. Logan’s main responsibility on board was to lead the Protestant church services that were held throughout the duration of the cruise – notably, the Sunday morning service and the midnight Christmas Eve service. In addition, Dr. Logan was available to meet the spiritual needs of the passengers on board, and provided her services to assist the Captain of the ship with the renewal of wedding vows for guests.

Many opportunities surfaced for Dr. Logan to encourage others in their Christian faith and to pray with guests, including a Chinese student attending George Washington University, who is very interested in pursuing a relationship with Christ. She also met the parents of Amanda, a US Attorney, and is praying that God will give Amanda wisdom, as she reports directly to the US Attorney General.

Dr. Logan reflects, “I thoroughly enjoyed my experience spending Christmas aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean. Serving as the Protestant minister on board offered a unique ministry opportunity and I am so grateful for the experience and the individuals I encountered, as I spread the word about Global University and put our mission statement into practice – ‘to win the lost and train the found, everywhere’.”
