The Evangel University Humanities Department will host its annual Faculty & Alumni Art Exhibit as part of Evangel’s homecoming celebration. The exhibit is scheduled from Oct. 4-31, on campus, in the Barnett Art Gallery.
The exhibit is free and open to the public, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Barnett Art Gallery is on the first floor of Evangel’s Barnett Fine Arts Center. The entrance to the Fine Arts Center is just south of the chapel, facing Glenstone Ave.
The Faculty & Alumni Art Exhibit will showcase a variety of works from alumni and faculty artists, including paintings, ceramics, prints, photography, sculpture and digital images.
“This show is always an exciting event at homecoming because it shows the versatility of our faculty and alumni, exhibited in the artwork that is created,” said Stan Maples, professor of art. “It is a great opportunity to reconnect with each other and share artistic inspiration.”
Maples, who has been written up in Digital Fine Arts magazine, will have pieces of his highly regarded digital-imaging art on display.
A second show, featuring Springfield-area artist Rob Bernet, a 1986 Evangel graduate, will be displayed at Evangel’s Bellwether Art Gallery in downtown Springfield, Oct. 4-31. The opening reception will take place during First Friday Artwalk on Friday, Oct. 4, from 6-10 p.m.
