See You at the Pole expands into a Week-long Event

flagThis year, it's not just a day. See You at the Pole (SYATP) has been transformed into Global Student Prayer Week, September 22-28. At the center of the week is See You at the Pole Day on Wednesday, September 25.

The theme for SYATP 2013 is 2 Chronicles 7:14: IF we pray, seek, turn. THEN God hears, forgives, heals.

For See You at the Pole 2013, students are being challenged to find new and unique ways, places and times to pray throughout the week. Whether they attend public, private, or home schools, students are urged to gather with their friends to pray during the week.

The focal point will be at 7 a.m. on Sept. 25 when students gather around a school flagpole to pray. Around the world, students will bepraying for their schools, friends, families, churches and communities. Assemblies of God Student Outreach and Youth Alive Director Steve Pulis says See You at the Pole helps students let others know they are Christians at school.

"SYATP provides an opportunity to visibly identify with Jesus at school by praying where everyone can see," Pulis says. "Not only does God hear and respond to our prayers, but the Holy Spirit can draw non-Christians into conversations about Jesus when someone asks about SYATP. Many times SYATP lets Christian students see other Christians and know they are part of a larger movement all over the world."

A 7:14 prayer app provides a tool to continue prayer beyond SYATP. Personalized prayer lists with customizable reminders can add friends' names who need Jesus or include specific schools. A weekly video focused on conversations with God throughout the Bible teaches how to grow through time with God.
