Ten high school graduates have been named recipients of the 2013 Ralph Riggs Scholarships, sponsored by Assemblies of God Trust. All 10 are attending an Assemblies of God university the fall semester of 2013.
Josiah Baker of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Bethany Hines of Olathe, Colorado, are each recipients of a Ralph Riggs General Superintendent's $30,000 Scholarship. The scholarships will be distributed to the two students over the next four years.
Winners of the Ralph Riggs $5,000 Scholarships are Cassandra Durkee, La Quinta, California; Kellen Gillaspy, Edina, Missouri; Marisa McCarty, Raton, New Mexico; Frances Merriam, Bandon, Oregon; Natalie Murrish, Kearney, Nebraska; Cheyenne Parker, Salem, Missouri; Joy Quackenbush, Missoula, Montana; and Danielle Routh, Augusta, Kansas.
The Ralph Riggs Scholarship program is named for former Assemblies of God General Superintendent Ralph M. Riggs (deceased), an early advocate for higher education in the Fellowship.
Scholarships are awarded annually to a select number of high school graduates planning to attend an AG university. A committee of The Alliance for AG Higher Education chooses recipients based on academic merit; exemplary community/church service and Christian life; and personal references.
Since 2009, AGTrust has awarded 52 high school graduates a total of $510,000 in Ralph Riggs Scholarships. This scholarship is one of four scholarship and grant programs funded through the generosity of donors to AGTrust.
