Carrying a message birthed from experience, Anuradha Bhosale, Vice Chairman of The AVANI Organization, shared her mission and work in assisting mothers of child-slaves in India on Monday, April 15, at Vanguard University.
The event started at 7:30 p.m. in Heath Room 100. Vanguard University’s Global Center for Women and Justice (GCWJ) hosted the gathering.
A former child-slave, Bhosale, actively fights child labor in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, India. Now working with the Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute (GWEI), Bhosale’s program focuses on well-rounded care for children to meet their physical and educational needs.
Fighting child slavery begins with strengthening families, bringing food and necessary resources to children in the slums and creating equality in education, which are all core parts of Bhosale’s work, according to GWEI’s YouTube video.
