CBC holds monthly town hall meeting for consolidation assistance

For the past academic year, Central Bible College has conducted monthly town hall meetings to assist its students with the consolidation of the three Springfield, Missouri, resident schools - Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Central Bible College and Evangel University.

According to Dr. Jim Vigil, vice president for Student Development at CBC, these meetings have focused on helping CBC students in their transition to the consolidated Evangel University. Topics chosen were based on an earlier survey and focus groups responses.

Topics covered thus far are academic programming, cost/financial assistance; spiritual formation/chapel; residence life/housing; and student government and organizations. Speakers included leaders from the three schools responsible for the various areas.

The residence life/housing town hall was held on the campus of Evangel University with the directors of housing and student life speaking to the nearly 50 students who participated.

"The intent of these town hall meetings is to paint a picture for the students as to what the future holds," explains Vigil. "There is a lot of apprehension due to just not knowing what will be happening, but a lot of that angst dwindles as how things will work is explained. Students have expressed their appreciation of the efforts made to communicate the details of the transition."

Plans are to provide an opportunity for CBC students to meet with the newly appointed president later in the spring.

According to Vigil, an average of 25-30 students has attended these meetings.
