For only the second time in Valley Forge Christian College athletic programs' history, a women's soccer player has been named All-American. Sophomore Kelli Noecker plays defense for the Patriots and is a two-time All East Region Player.
Kelli joined the women's team in the fall of 2011 and even though she was just a freshman, her skill, speed and knowledge of sport was more than noticeable. It was exceptional. At the end of the season, Kelli was named to the All East Region Team and undeniably one of the best defenders on the field.
In her second season, Kelli got better and became an anchor in the backfield, winning every ball, chasing down every opponent and making precision passes. Something else that sets Kelli apart is the fact that she is a two-footed player, which is unique in this division. At the end of the season, Kelli was one again named to the All East Region Team. Not only was she named to the team, but she was among the top vote getters, making her eligible for an All-American nomination.
Players are nominated for All-American awards by their respective coaches. Coaches within each Region vost on which nominees deserve to be named to the All-Region team. Top vote getters within the region are eligible for All-American nominations. In a sport with few defensive statistics to support, it is pretty impressive to receive National awards as a defensive player.
Kelli's determination, skill, attitude and character spoke loudly to coaches and earned her a spot on the NCCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-American list.
With two years left to play, the women's soccer team and athletic staff are excited to see what else this talented player can bring to the program.
