Evangel University named to list of Military Friendly Schools®

Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has recognized Evangel University for its outstanding academic programs and has named it to the coveted Military Friendly Schools ® list.

The 2013 Military Friendly Schools ® list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools ® shows Evangel University’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and vice president at Victory Media.

“Those on the list have world-class programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility, and other services to those who served,” he said.

Evangel’s military history

“Evangel is committed to helping military service members, veterans, and their families achieve their educational goals,” said Dr. Robert H. Spence, EU president.

“As the national Assemblies of God university of arts, sciences and professions, Evangel University has a long history of helping with transitions in both directions — from student to military service, and from service back to civilian life,” he said.

Founded in 1955 on the site of the WWII-era O’Reilly Army Hospital, Evangel offers more than 100 academic programs, ranging from business to biology and criminal justice to theology.

The university also offers a B.S. in military science, built around a highly respected ROTC program affiliated with the Missouri State University Bear Battalion. For more information, look at Evangel’s ROTC program.

Evangel’s list of prominent military alumni includes Admiral Vern Clark, Chief of Naval Operations for the U.S. Navy (retired in 2005 as the second-longest serving CNO in history); and Major General Cecil Richardson, Chief of Chaplains for the U.S. Air Force (retired in 2012).
