In June of 2011 a large portion of Minot was ravaged by the Souris River flood. Thousands of homes were lost and thousands of people were displaced. Now in April 2012, almost a year later, the rebuilding and restoration work in Minot is far from over. The students at Trinity Bible College felt a need to go and help those who were affected right here in our own region. That need compelled the students in Student Government to take action and organize a volunteer trip to Minot to share Christ’s love in a tangible way. Student Government working closely alongside the student led Missions team and Student Ministries made this trip a reality.
A group of 47 students and faculty members traveled to Minot and assisted in the flood relief effort. They worked all day Friday, April 20 and all day Saturday, April 21, along with a small group working Thursday evening as well. Over these few days, God was able to use them to complete the 16 job assignments they were given. The Lord blessed them with no rain, good attitudes, and a safe weekend with no injuries.
This trip was a great experience that not only allowed the students to bless others, but to be blessed as well. Many left with reluctance wanting to stay and help more and most all want to go back and continue in the disaster relief effort.
