Goodwin Makes History As First NCU Competitor in NCCAA Men's Golf National Championship

Junior Dean Goodwin became the first player in North Central Men's Golf history to compete at the National Christian College Athletic Association Men's Golf National Championship Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, October 12-13. Goodwin traveled to Nationals after enjoying a record-breaking regular season including leading his team to the first ever NCAA DIII conference championship in NCU sports history.

Goodwin (Rosemount, Minn.) fired a two-day, three-round 240 which placed him 52nd in the final standings among a 96 player field. In the first two rounds Goodwin shot an outstanding 79-75 combo placing him 22nd on the leader board.

During 2009 Goodwin won three matches individually and led his team to the regular season and post season Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championships. With the UMAC Championship wins, Goodwin and NCU Men's Golf became the first team in any Rams sport to win a full NCAA DIII conference championship. He also holds in the NCU record for a low individual round with an even par 72 shot at the UMAC Regular Season Tournament on September 10, 2009.
