Vanguard University's Nursing Progam Receives Accreditation

Vanguard University (AG) in Costa Mesa, California, has announced that the University's RN-to-BSN degree program received the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation for five years. Five years is the longest period of time for which the CCNE grants accreditation for a new program.

The RN-to-BSN degree program combines innovative curriculum, interdisciplinary teaching and collaborative partnerships in a values-based bachelor's degree program. The two-year course of study promotes critical inquiry, enhances the nurse's skill set and prepares the nurse for leadership roles in the healthcare environment.

Colette York, director of VU's nursing program, is thrilled with the news of the accreditation and says, "In my many years of preparing self-studies, the one I prepared for Vanguard University was both the most challenging and satisfying. Today, my satisfaction was truly indescribable when I was notified that VU received accreditation for five years."

Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency contributing to the improvement of the public's health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of bachelor and graduate level education programs preparing effective nurses.

CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing education programs and the continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education.

"The CCNE national accreditation truly validates and places Vanguard in a category that denotes a quality program," York says. "It is the culmination of the efforts of all those individuals and groups at Vanguard and in the community that have been the cheerleaders for nursing. Today, we have witnessed answers to our many unified prayers."

The next start date for students entering VU's RN-to-BSN degree program is May 14th. For more information about Vanguard's nursing program see
