The Mission of Assemblies of God
Christian Higher Education

The Mission of the Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education is to educate, nurture, and disciple men and women for effective service to Christ, His church, and the world.

We Believe . . .

  • The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God. There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. 1 Thess. 2:13
  • In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right had of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years. Matthew 1:23
  • In the blessed hope–the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming. Titus 2:13
  • The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ. Luke 24:47
  • Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. Titus 3:5
  • In water baptism by immersion. Mark 16:16
  • The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. Isaiah 53:5
  • The baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
  • In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. 1 Thess. 5:23
  • In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. Matthew 25:46

We Value . . .

  • The Scripture–and believe it is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man and woman of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16
  • The worship of God–in spirit and truth and in the splendor of His holiness. John 4:24
  • Our Pentecostal heritage–which was experienced by the Early Church and empowered it to be witnesses of Christ. Acts 2:4
  • The local church–as part of the larger "Body of Christ" which is loved by Christ and for which He died. Ephesians 5:25-29
  • The sanctity of marriage and the family–as an institution established by God which should be honored and kept from impurity. Hebrews 13:4
  • Justice–which is loved by God, and by which we are to minister showing mercy and compassion to one another. Zechariah 7:9
  • Forgiveness and restoration–without which we will not be forgiven and is a mark of spirituality. Galatians 6:1
  • The dignity of all people–as bearers of the image of God whether male or female. Genesis 1:27
  • Integrity–which is manifested by truthfulness and an absence of deceitfulness. Proverbs 11:3
  • The lost–for whom Christ died. Luke 19:10
  • The nurture and expression of vocation (God’s calling) in the lives of all God’s people–and feel responsible to make available Christian higher education and training for those called. 2 Timothy 1:9

Our Objectives . . .

  • To provide quality education for ministerial students which is affordable and represents several options such as accredited colleges, graduate schools, universities, and distance learning courses, and non-accredited institutes.
  • To provide quality education for non-ministerial students which is affordable and prepares them for leadership within the church and society.
  • To provide courses in Bible and theology which faithfully present the doctrines of the Assemblies of God.
  • To provide a means for distributing information about our higher education program.
  • To develop scholarship programs for students attending our institutions.
  • To provide programs for the enhancement of the professional development of faculty, administrators, staff, and trustees serving our institutions.
  • To network with other Pentecostal groups in the development of higher education programs which may serve them.
  • To conserve our youth through higher education options which are consistent with our beliefs.
  • To provide Pentecostal textbooks for our institutes, colleges, seminary, and universities.

Our Strategies . . .

  • To recruit students by:
    • Developing lists of prospective students for use by our member schools.
    • Using publications to promote our higher education programs.
  • To assist in the coordination of programs of higher education within the Assemblies of God to avoid unnecessary costs and duplication.
  • To provide a national placement directory of personnel in Assemblies of God Higher Education.
  • To utilize the resources of the General Council to generate an endowment for the support of higher education.
  • To maintain a relevant master plan for higher education within the Assemblies of God which addresses the changing needs of the Fellowship.
  • To promote a Pentecostal Textbooks Project Board that will develop policies whereby Pentecostal writers can be solicited and textbooks can be printed for use in Assemblies of God institutions of higher education.
  • To develop policies to provide official recognition for:
    • Schools wanting endorsement by the General Council.
    • Outstanding educators in Assemblies of God postsecondary schools.
